Taking a Break
And Appreciating you!
I am thrilled and grateful to have so many of you now following my journey. It will help me to stay on track and give me the encouragement I need to keep going. This project began 2 years ago and after several years of idling in my mind I could no longer ignore it. I have never written a book before and the learning curve has been steep. It’s not just the research and writing, it’s the organization and all the aspects of getting published that continue to challenge me. I have many moments when I desperately want to back out, telling myself I can’t do it or I’m retired now, I deserve to relax but then a light beckons me on and I find the way through.
I have lived my whole life with ADHD. I don’t think in a linear way and I can’t follow a set of directions with ease. When people suggest setting goals and planning chapters I balk. I don’t know where to start. But by the grace of my Goddess I found a writing coach who is also ADHD and is a published author of many books. She understands my process and has helped me accept that for me it works. She gave me permission to just write, to get my thoughts out on paper and she would help me organize them later. So for the last 5 months I’ve just been writing, several chapters simultaneously, dipping into whichever one inspires me in the moment. I will share some of that writing in my next newsletter.
Meanwhile, I am taking a little break from book writing, enjoying a three week vacation in Costa Rica and escaping the New England winter. The landscape and wildlife here are breathtakingly beautiful. To be surrounded by lush green, and enveloped in warm sun with a background chorus of birds, insects and yes, mammals too, is a feast for my senses and a healing balm.
I see you all as partners in this project and thank you for your support.
